Dancehall Academy is a structured pathway into Dancehall, built to develop depth, knowledge, and quality in Australia. Led by Chuby, leader of Black Dice Crew from Spanish Town, Jamaica, the Academy centres on direct teaching, mentorship, and deep cultural grounding in the music, movement, and history of Dancehall.
Taster + Tryouts is both a free workshop and a selection process. Participants will train directly with Chuby and collaborators, experiencing the Academy's approach across movement, musicality, and cultural understanding.
COHORT 1
Cohort 1 is limited to 8 to 10 dancers, focused on serious, advanced students ready to commit to a deeper journey. The Academy journey is a one to two year journey at minimum, to chart the future of Dancehall in Naarm and more widely.
WHY THIS MATTERS
This marks the first, and not the last, time in Australia that a Dancehall crew is being led, developed, and deployed by a Jamaican Dancehall creator.

What Scholars Receive After Selection
Membership Inclusions
Saturday Training
Core Academy training every Saturday through June, July, August, September and October.
Tributary Series
Eligible access to the Chuby Dice Series at HD Entertainment, subject to stream requirements.
Clash Access
Academy-supported participation in designated clash components, including cyphers where applicable.
Street Sessions
Monthly practice sessions for cypher confidence, freestyle, etiquette and community.
Selection Is Followed by an Academy Agreement

Attendance
How many classes may be missed, notice requirements and what counts as unexplained absence.

The Academy Scholar
Selection means joining a structured training cohort with expectations, benefits, assessment and future pathways — not only a casual class. Successful applicants receive an Academy agreement before confirming their place.
